The Commonwealth referred to as the Commonwealth of Nations and formerly known as the British Commonwealth is an intergovernmental organization of fifty-four independent member countries, which were under the colonial rule of British. The Head of the Commonwealth, which is a ceremonial position currently held by Queen Elizabeth II. Elizabeth II is also monarch, separately and independently, of sixteen Commonwealth members, which are known as the “Commonwealth realms”.
Why the Need for Commonwealth: Is it for Second Round of Exploitation?
Commonwealth claims that its formation was inspired to uplift all the 54 nations, which were once slaves for hundreds of years. Here the point is after hundreds of years British’s barbaric and exploitation rule, how come all of sudden British get enlightened and thought to bless up on tons of mercy which they couldn’t have when they were ruling? This is a point of thought which all 54 nations have to think. But, it is very clear that Commonwealth is established to remind all the nations that nations who were once their slaves and are even now too, and in order to continue their supremacy over nations Commonwealth was established. Again the same concepts of free trade, economic upliftment, technology support, and dumb concepts were used with different names and introduced their supremacy.
The concept of commonwealth reflects European diplomacy to keep hold of colonies they have occupied and for plundering the wealth of the other countries. It is one of the activities under the umbrella which is in the thirst for establishing its power throughout the world. The principle of the commonwealth can be better understood in Curtis words in his letter to the People of India in 1917:
“The world is in throes which precede creation or death. Our whole race has outgrown the merely national state, and as surely as day follows night or night the day, it will pass either to a Commonwealth of Nations or else an empire of slaves. And the issue of these agonies rests with us.”
Even the recent statements of President of British Mr. Boris Johnson on Africa confirm British perspective towards its previous colonies. He stated that: “Colonialism in Africa should never have ended and dismissed Britain’s role in slavery. The best fate for Africa would be if the old colonial powers, or their citizens, scrambled once again in her direction; on the understanding that this time they will not be asked to feel guilty. “
India, the land which was literally and brutally exploited by the Europeans, might have forgotten the past and in the present having trade with a nation of pirates. It really sounds funny and the situation seems fuzzy and how we can have friendly relations with pirate’s nation which had its mark on us in the past? Being literally hampered, still, we are very keen to have trade with them which is really insane and puts me up in the state of completely in a state of void. Are we that incapable to always seek someone helping even to sharpen a pencil of diamond and at least identify where diamonds and other resources exist. The Europeans claim that they will teach us trade, culture, and education, a country who are enough incapable of earning a single piece of grain in a righteous manner.

Revisiting the Past
If we dwell into the past, the first visit of Vasco da Gama started with the arrival of his fleet in Kappad near Calicut, India on 20 May 1498. The King of Calicut, the Saamoothri(Zamorin), who was at that time staying in his second capital at Ponnani, returned to Calicut on hearing the news of the European fleets’ arrival. The navigator was received with traditional hospitality, including a grand procession of at least 3,000 armed Nairs, but an interview with the Zamorin failed to produce any concrete results. The presents that Vasco da Gama sent to the Zamorin as gifts from Dom Manuel—four cloaks of scarlet cloth, six hats, four branches of corals, twelve almasares, a box with seven brass vessels, a chest of sugar, two barrels of oil and a cask of honey, where Indians have never used a brass vessel in those days. This incident shows how these pirates position was in the starting. Vascodgama literally robbed complete ship going from Calicut to Mecca and killed all men women and babies whose foot still didn’t touch the soil and fed his dogs. This is just a sample to show the nature of most Europeans.
How Our Wealth Becomes Common to Europeans and Their Associates
It is to be remembered that still their nature hasn’t changed yet and they are again trying to repeat the history by the concept of the commonwealth. How come the wealth of my neighbor becomes common to both of us? It hints us that they are in the process of repeating the job their forefathers have done. The sources through which they are laying their tents are:
- In the name of trade companies.
- In the name of missionary groups,
- In order to mask their presence putting Indian people on the screen, are funding and control is done by them.
- Hold on News and advertisement media…
- Disintegrating on culture and traditions as these represents the individuality of any country
- Bio attacks: by injecting many banned medicines into society. Etc…,
The main aim of this commonwealth is to exploit the resources of this land. The main intention of the commonwealth concept can be portrayed by the letter cited by one of the London Times editors states that:
“We have everywhere obtained that our goods shall be imported into all these countries. To attain those ends, we use all sorts of means, from courteous invitation to bombardments. We prefer to employ mere eloquence because it is cheap and easy; but if talking fails we follow it up by gunboats, and, in that convincing way, we induce hesitating ‘barbarians’ not only to accept our two unvarying conditions but also to pay the cost of the expedition by which their consent to these conditions was extorted from them. China was so unwilling to listen to our advice so blind to the striking merits of our opium and our consuls, that we were obliged, with great regret, to resort to gentle force with her.”
If we dwell in to the history of the commonwealth the core idea of this is framed by Cecil Rhodes the owner of DeBeers company. The parent concepts which constituted to commonwealth are:
- During the first decade or so it was called “the secret society of Cecil Rhodes” or “the dream of Cecil Rhodes.”
- In the second and third decades of its existence it was known as “Milner’s Kindergarten” (1901-1910)
- as “the Round Table Group” formed during 1910.
- By 1915 Round Table groups existed in seven countries, including Britain, South Africa, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, and a rather loosely organized group in the United States
- Since 1920 it has been called by various names, depending on which phase of its activities was being examined. It has been called “The Times crowd,” “the Rhodes crowd,” the “Chatham House crowd,” the “All Souls group,” and the “Cliveden set.”
- The Miler Kindergarten and the Round Table Group, for example, were two different names for The Association of Helpers and were thus only part of the society,
All the above are the parent groups of Commonwealth.
These all groups are formed by Rhodes for the feared that elicited all culture and civilization would go down to destruction because of our inability to construct some kind of political unit larger than the national state, just as Greek culture and civilization in the fourth century B.C. went down to destruction because of the Greeks’ inability to construct some kind of political unit larger than the city-state. This was the fear that had animated Rhodes, and it was the same fear that was driving the Milner Group to transform the British Empire into a Commonwealth of Nations and then place that system within a League of Nations.
Our people and governments are proud in declaring that we have business affairs with even other countries, rather than mining the fact that they are the same pirates are revisiting again. Still many of our companies are being funded and operated by the groups which are in a great urge to occupy our country. With the same concept of trade British entered India for which we have and also being paid heavily for the blunder we did and still we didn’t carry any experience from any past situations that’s why when the same situation is repeating we are unable to react with solution perspective.
The spectrum of views considered to do justice to the title was merely a few, as I tried to take a small viewpoint of the whole scenario. It’s we who should respond because of the simple and strong reason that it’s our land. The “economic exploitation” and the “drain of wealth” are two motives of the commonwealth, so it’s our duty to protect our country.
The exploitation of wealth overtime is done in two subsequent steps, first, in the name of Free-Trade and Capitalism, British physically occupied ruled countries and drained the wealth and natural resources of all nations. After a point when countries realized the rude form of trade game as mere exploitation and slavery of their economy, all countries threw out British from their countries and set themselves free from colonial exploitation. With people identifying British as culprits who directly drained the wealth and resources of their nation and moreover with all the countries coming out of colonial rule, made it difficult for the British to exercise their authority physically over their colony’s wealth. There was an unidentified wealth that the British were unable to loot in the first phase of Free Trade. Here is where they thought of Globalization and Privatization came in to picture as the proxies of Free Trade.
In this process, many institutional setups like corporate theory, IMF, World Bank, and many more are introduced to exercise a centralized and direct control of the economic and financial status of third world countries. These institutions control the world economy and whenever they need money or to exercise control over a nation that is developing, they introduce inflation and force countries to take financial aid provided by their institutions at the cost of dissolving all the financial power generation houses. This is what happened with the Argentinian Crisis and even with India during Shri P.V. Narishma Rao’s regime in the name of financial reformation, where all government institutions have been closed. Even during the recent COVID-19 crisis, the World Bank gave $1 Billion aid to India and result of which immediately as a part of economic reformation, Financial Minister Mrs.Nirmala Sitraman announced raise of FDI in 6 major sectors, wherein in the defense sector alone FDI involvement has seen a huge upsurge from 47% to 74%. Formerly FDI involvement in the Insurance sector was 49% and now the limit of FDI in insurance intermediaries is set to 100%, which means completely sold out. Apart from this whenever any nation takes a loan from the World Bank, it is mandatory for the nation to accept World Bank conditions like removing price controls, provide state subsidies, enhancing the rights of foreign investors via national laws, allowing them to sit in all your financial bodies and so on. Tell me which bank that gives loans to you puts all these rules on you and your family? But the World Bank does. This is who controls the prices and economy of a country.
Those who play to their tunes and sell away the nation’s individuality are labeled as friendly nations. Rest all will be termed as rebellion nations. This is no new for us too, as we also faced this criticism in the past in 2011, when India and Iran agreed to trade oil in rupees and in barter system without giving room for dollar. During that period, Anup K Pujari, then Director General of Foreign Trade stated to media that a decision to denominate our trade-in rupee terms was taken at a bilateral meeting of two countries as trade cannot be done using the international currency. The result of this action of India has deeply hurt world trade circles and stimulated US secretary of state for political affairs, Nicholas Burns, to state that “This is bitterly disappointing news for those of us who have championed a close relationship with INDIA. And, it represents a real setback in the attempt by the last three American presidents to establish a close and strategic partnership with successive Indian governments, INDIA’s decision to walk out of step with the international community on Iran isn’t just a slap in the face for the US… it raises questions about its ability to lead,”
The above-mentioned instances are just a miniature of a bigger picture!
